I recommend staying away from the airport.  Otherwise, you will hear the sweet sounds of airplanes landing hourly right above your beautiful beach while you're sunbathing.
We saw a party bus driving around the island that looked inviting.  After some very, very last minute plans, we were able to ride the  Kukoo Kunuku  for the night.  Definitely check it out.
After a night of party-bus-fun, it's always a good idea to get face paint.
